Those speakers are now fixed in place with wiring through the walls and ceiling, and I can’t move them without remodeling the room. This issue is compounded by the fact that the locations where I had installed speakers when I built the home theater (before immersive audio was a concern I gave any thought to) were less than ideal for Atmos. That, combined with a low ceiling, makes it difficult for just four speakers (two in the front of the room and two in the back) to image a sound above my head convincingly. This makes you constantly switch between quickly disposing of the exploding vessels and focussing your full fire power on the strong enemy itself. The enemies themselves also require different tactics to dispose of them. For example, one of has a lot of health but also sends out dozens of exploding vessels towards you. But that means that they can also do that, so you have to pay attention to every direction around you. Since you are underwater, you can turn and flip your submarine in every direction and easily flank your enemies. ![]() The combat in Diluvion is surprisingly challenging, in a good way. That’s why your little ship is also equipped with a cannon and torpedo launcher. ![]() But using the sonar comes with a disadvantage since it can alert enemies and fearsome creatures of your position. Using the sonar sends out a ping around your submarine, showing you where you can go and what potential threats may be nearby. The sonar is a crucial tool of your submarine because it’s your best chance at exploring the abyss and discovering new landmarks and Remnants. It is then that I started to use one of the most important gameplay mechanics in Diluvion: the sonar. One of my first missions was to loot a nearby Remnant, some sort of ancient tomb of the people who lived before you. But getting there won’t be easy since the underwater world of Diluvion can be dangerous and deadly.Īfter a quick explanation of how you move your submarine, you set out on your underwater journey. The goal of the game is simple: find the Endless Corridor and return it to one of the Gods. Now, more than a year later, Arachnid Games has given me the opportunity to try out their early build of Diluvion. Just one month after their announcement the project already got fully funded, showing how many people are interested in their game. The developers wanted to make a deep sea exploration game and hoped that they would acquire enough backers in order to make Diluvion a reality. Arachnid Games announced their Kickstarter project more than a year ago, on June 2, 2015.
